Hearthstone's Owners & Management Team

Our two Hearthstone Retirement Communities are largely owned and managed by a local family with years of experience in long-term services. The Hearthstone founders, Walter and Helen Friesen, and their adult children, Bev Ecker, Nancy Ralston, Rod Friesen and Gerry Friesen, have a "heart" for seniors and a commitment to creating senior communities with exceptional services.

Hearthstone of Beaverton, an Assisted Living Community with 58 apartments, opened in 1996. It was the Friesen family's desire to create a warm and welcoming home for seniors that was better than that which was available for their grandmother. Walter's mother had been in an "Altenheim" (Home for the Aged) that did not provide the freedom of choices, respect and dignity that the family believes every person deserves. They have dedicated their time and efforts to providing Retirement Communities that offer great food, and a beautiful environment, in a clean and comfortable home among friends who care. Excellent service and professional health care have always been their priority.

Inspired by the satisfaction and happiness of the Hearthstone residents and their families, the Hearthstone Management Services team expanded their vision when they, and some investors, developed and opened Hearthstone of Murrayhill in the spring of 2002. This 183- apartment Community offers progressive care including Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care. The Administrators and staff of both Hearthstones take pride in making each day "the best it can be" for all of our residents.
